Tsakos Shipping and Trading SA continuously strives to motivate and promote an active safety culture throughout the
Group and its Fleet. A commitment to safe shipboard operations and
environment protection awareness is emphasised within the
Company's procedures and the curriculum of its training
establishments on the Hellenic island of Chios and in the Philippines.
Comprehensive training procedures are practiced both ashore and
throughout the Tsakos managed fleet.
Theme presentations and seminars are held weekly, throughout the year in
the Athens head office fully equipped 100-seater auditorium. Both the
seafarers and office staff attend the weekly sessions. Each week the
topics vary to cater for all aspects of the shipping industry.
Each session is conducted by specialists in their chosen field. In
addition, audio visual training techniques are employed to further
update the participants. Each training seminar is videoed and the
resulting reproductions are sent to all vessels within the fleet,
ensuring the sea staff are kept fully updated and informed.
Additionally, the Company has entered into a Training Agreement with
Lloyd's Register to promote a more advanced specialised Training
Sylabus for both Management and Sea Staff.
Frequently, many of the sea staff attend external training for more
focused and specialized needs of the industry or the particular vessel
types they will be serving on.
The Tsakos Group sponsors a number of Polytechnic Colleges which provide the fleet with skilled,
dedicated seafarers and junior officers.
