Tsakos Shipping and Trading S.A. and its employees are committed and dedicated to protecting the environment and to the prevention of pollution. In line with this strong commitment, the Company has established and implemented an Environmental Management System throughout the organization.
Tsakos Shipping and Trading S.A., which has historically employed and demonstrated sound environmental practices, has evaluated its activities and has identified and assessed those aspects which have or can have significant impact on the environment. Furthermore, the Company has established procedures to manage and monitor those aspects in accordance with ISO 14001:2004.
Tsakos Shipping and Trading S.A. through the Environment Management System, is committed to:
• Compliance with relevant environmental legislation, regulations and other requirements (as applicable and/or deemed necessary by the
Company)
• Providing for the prevention of pollution and a safe working environment
• Establish safeguards against all identified environmental risks
• Zero-spills
• Minimise, if possible, the wastes, residues and emissions which are produced by its operations and to always manage them in the most environmentally effective way
• Providing adequate resources for the achievement of the set objectives and targets
• Providing appropriate training to all personnel whose work may create a significant impact upon the environment
• To continuously cooperate with its suppliers and contractors for their environmental improvement
• Continual improvement of the overall environmental performance
The Company has ensured that this Policy is available to and understood by all employees, both in the office and on board the vessels.
