TSAKOS SHIPPING AND TRADING SA.

1970

Establishment of the Company with the first general cargo vessel under its management.

1972

The first tanker under its management.

1981

Delivery of the first multipurpose newbuilding under its management.
Establishment of jv's with W. African governmental enterprises.

  1982

Tsakos Shipping & Trading S.A. is among founder members of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA), a voluntary association formed to enhance environmental consciousness in shipping.

1984

Participation in an oil exploration project in the Gulf of Mexico and Ecuador.

1986

Participation in an oil exploration project in Ecuador.

1987

The Company initiates the sponsorship of two Mariners' Polytechnic Colleges in Naga and Legaspi, Philippines, for the supply of Filipino Officers and Crew to its fleet.

1997

Participation in a major Caspian Sea oil exploration project.
The company obtains ISO 9002 Code accreditation.

1998

The Company obtains ISO 14001 accreditation for the protection of the environment. The Company is the first Greek shipping group to acquire this accreditation.

2000

The Company celebrates its 30th Anniversary. The Company manages a fleet of 60 vessels including Newbuildings.

2005

Participation in an oil exploration project in Papua New Guinea.
The Company manages a fleet of 70 vessels (tankers, bulk carriers, containers, ro-ro, LNG) including Newbuildings.

2006

The Company manages a fleet of 88 vessels (tankers, bulk carriers, containers, ro-ro, LNG) including Newbuildings of about DWT 8.6M and TEUs 40,000 container capacity.

2007

The Company manages a fleet 84 vessels (tankers, bulk carriers, containers, Ro-Ro, LNG) including Newbuildings of about DWT 9.0 million and TEUs in excess of 32,000 container capacity.

2008

The Company manages a fleet 86 vessels (tankers, bulk carrier containers, Ro-Ro, LNG) including Newbuildings of about DWT 9.0  million and TEUs in excess of 32,000 container capacity.

2009

The Company manages a fleet 82 vessels (tankers, bulk carriers containers, Ro-Ro, LNG) including Newbuildings of about DWT 8.3 million and TEUs in excess of 32,000 container capacity.

 

 

 

**** The Company is the Shipmanager of all TSAKOS Group fleet vessels.

TSAKOS ENERGY NAVIGATION LTD (TEN LTD).

1993

Establishment of the Maritime Investment Fund Limited (MIF Ltd), listed on the Bermuda Stock Exchange and Oslo Stock Exchange.

1997

Delivery of the first Newbuilding aframax tanker by IMABARI Japan. This is the beginning of a major Newbuilding programme.

1998

Delivery of the first VLCC Newbuilding by HYUNDAI, South Korea.

2001

MIF LTD renamed TSAKOS ENERGY NAVIGATION LTD (TEN LTD).

2002

TEN LTD is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

2004

The Company has taken delivery of 21 Newbuildings ranging from product carriers to VLCCs size.

2005

The Company has taken delivery of 5 Newbuildings (3 tanker, 2 ice-class tanker vessels).

2006

Take-over of the Western Petroleum fleet, comprising 6 X DWT 53,000 ice class 1A and 3 X DWT 116,000 ice class 1A newbuilding tankers.

The Company has taken delivery of 7 Newbuildings (7 ice class tanker vessels).

2007

The Company has taken delivery of 9 Newbuildings during the year (8 tanker and 1 LNG vessels.

2008

The Company has taken delivery of 4 Newbuildings (tankers) during the year.

2009

The Company has taken delivery of 2 Newbuildings (tankers) during the year.

2010

Delivery of (2) Newbuildings (tankers)  is scheduled during the year.

2011

Delivery of (2) Newbuildings (tankers)  is scheduled during the year.

 

**** Tsakos Shipping and Trading S.A. acts as Technical Managers for TEN LTD.

 

**** TEN LTD. currently operates a fleet of 50 tankers and 1 LNG vessel, including newbuildings, of a total DWT 5.5M.

TSAKOS CHARTERING SA.

1974

Establishment of the Tsakos Group Chartering division operating under the name of TSAKOS CHARTERING SA.

2002

The Company was replaced by Tsakos Commerce S.A.

 

 

TSAKOS SALES INC.

1997

Establishment of the Tsakos Group S&P division, operating under the name of TSAKOS SALES INC.

 

**** The Company is the exclusive Sale + Purchase Broker for the TSAKOS Group fleet.

TSAKOS COMMERCE SA.

2002

Establishment of TSAKOS COMMERCE SA.

 

**** The Company handles the commercial and trading activities of the Group.

 

**** The Company is the exclusive wet/gas/container and dry cargo chartering broker for the TSAKOS Group fleet.

TSAKOS INDUSTRIAS NAVALES SA.

1975

Purchase of Montevideo Yard.  The activities of TSAKOS INDUSTRIAS NAVALES S.A. are declared of national interest by the Uruguayan Government.

1979

Commercial agroforestry and farming activities in Uruguay.

1983

Delivery of the first Newbuilding by the Shipyard, the M/V RAMPLA JUNIORS.

1989

Yard incorporated a Floating Dock of 20.000 TLC and upgraded its port and workshops facilities.

1994

Tsakos Industrias Navales S.A. acquires a dredger in connection with dredging and river transportation (Hidrovia) projects in the Rio de la Plat area.

2004

Yard obtains Quality Management System Accreditation according to ISO 9001:2000

2007

The Shipyard delivered its first newbuilding barge, with a further order of 1, for completion within 2008.

2008

The Shipyard delivered its second newbuilding barge.

2009

During the last 5 years we have drydocked more than 300 vessels besides the ones repaired afloat.

 

**** The Shipyard is the largest shipyard in the La Plata area, operating two floating docks, the larger with a lifting capacity of 18,000 tons, accommodating vessels up to DWT 45,000 and the smaller with a lifting capacity of 500 tons.

FOUNDATION “MARIA TSAKOS”, MONTEVIDEO.

1978

Establishment of the Foundation in Montevideo, Uruguay.

 

**** The Foundation maintains offices in Montevideo, Athens and Chios Island. Its primary scope is to teach the Greek language and promote the Hellenic culture in Latin American countries. The Foundation has received the highest awards from the Athens Academy, the Orthodox Church and the Athens Municipality for its contribution in promoting the Hellenic Culture and Spirit in Latin America.

TSAKOS SHIPPING (LONDON) LTD.

1978

Establishment of the London Office.

 

**** The London office handles the fleet insurance, special projects and S+P projects.

ARGOSY INSURANCE COMPANY LTD., Bermuda.

1993

Establishment of the Group's own captive insurance company.

 

**** The Company is incorporated in and managed from Bermuda.  It provides Hull and Machinery, War Risks, Loss of Hire, Freight and other ancillary insurance covers for the Group's fleet and companies.  P+I insurance cover is provided by four of the Major Clubs, The London, The UK, The Britannia and The North of England.
