We are very proud to announce the Delivery, at 10:10 am Greek time on the 14th October, 2010, at Daewoo Shipyard, Mangalia, Romania, of B/C IAN M (H.N.1045) the second new built Capesize Bulk Carrier in a series of two. The Vessel was built by Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries, Romania, for account of Tsakos Shipping and Trading S.A.
Vessel was blessed by Father Nikolaos Galilaios. Delivery was attended by Capt. Panagiotis N. Tsakos, Founder and President of Tsakos Group, Mr. Papageorgiou Vassileios, Deputy Chairman of Tsakos Group, Mr. Eric Montanios, Lawyer of Montanios & Montanios Law Firm, Capt. Ioannis Bethanis, Marine Superintendent, Mr. Letonis Ioannis, Civil Engineer, Capt. Kostalas Georgios, Tsakos Group, Mr. S.G. Hong - DMHI President and many distinguished representatives of DMHI.
Capt. P.N. Tsakos sailed with IAN M, under the command of Capt. Ioannis Papachintzios, Capt. Ioannis Bethanis, Marine Superintendent, Capt. Georgios Kostalas, Tsakos Group, friends and associates, for Piraeus port where the Christening ceremony took place.
The Christening ceremony was held at 13:00 hours Greek time, on the 18th October, 2010, at Piraeus port. The vessel was named “IAN M” in honour of Mr Ian McLachlan, a leading shipping lawyer/partner (Rtd) at Holman Fenwick and Willan, close collaborator of the Tsakos Group and a close personal friend of the Tsakos Family over 40 years now.
B/C IAN M was sponsored by Mrs June Legg, Mr Ian McLachlan’s dear partner, who agreed to honour the Tsakos Family by naming this vessel.
