"Maria Tsakos" Foundation

The Foundation has established the granting of scholarships for studies in Greece, so that its students can become familiar with the Greek society and its intellectual activity.

Predominantly, the Foundation grants scholarships:

	To its students who are accommodated for two months in Greece, where they become acquainted with the country and the people, while practicing their use of the Greek language.
	To its teachers, who attend seminars in Greek at the Aristoteleio University of Thessaloniki. It is noteworthy that the university’s Modern Greek Language School – acknowledging the high standard of Greek language learning at the “Maria Tsakos” Foundation and appreciating its work – offers a scholarship to a Foundation’s teacher or student for attending its highest-level seminars.
	To the Foundation’s teachers, who participate in Modern Greek and foreign universities.
	To professors of Spanish Studies for the realization of seminars at Athens University’s Italian and Spanish Language and Literature Department.

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary, offer two scholarships to the Foundation’s students, for attending Greek language courses in Greece.

In addition, numerous groups of students and friends of the Foundation have traveled to Greece with its assistance. These trips have been recognized by the Uruguayan Government as “events of special cultural significance.”
